Hair Removal
There are many methods to remove unwanted hair from our bodies, and the method chosen really depends on each individual’s preferences. Waxing is far more effective in removing hair for a much longer period of time than shaving alone.
Sugar or Wax?
Both techniques are quite effective when it comes to getting rid of unwanted hair but consider the facts when choosing Wax vs. Sugaring.
Wax Facts
· Waxing is more effective than cold waxing, because the heat from the wax causes the skin’s pores to open, and the hairs are then more easily pulled from their roots resulting in a much more effective hair removal procedure.
· Hair is quickly removed by smearing the wax and then pull, rather than the kneading and molding process of sugaring.
· Contraindications for persons who use retin A or acutane or other exfoliating products.
Sugaring Facts
· Sugaring is typically made up of all natural food-grade ingredients like sugar, lemon juice, water.
· Sugaring paste is water soluble, but not sticky so it can wash it off with plain old water.
· If you exfoliate (using glycolic, Retin A or peels), sugaring doesn’t attach to live skin cells and will only take away dead skin cells, unlike waxing which also removes live skin cells.
· Sugar is lukewarm and never hot so there’s no risk of burning the skin.
· Traditional sugaring techniques are less pain and strain as the paste is removed in the same direction hair grows, putting less strain on the skin.
· Sugaring is perfect for all body parts. (i.e. upper lip, chest, bikini and genital areas)
· Not recommended for people who use retin A and acutane.
